What Is Kundalini?

We all have the spiritual opportunity to be fully connected to the Source of all life. The subtle energy systems in the body are what give us life, and this Divine consciousness has two different names: active chetana (known as vital energy or prana) and non-active chetana (known as kundalini).

Vital energy (active chetana) sustains and gives energy to the body, mind, intellect and subtle ego. The vital energy is supplied to the cells, nerves, arteries, lymph etc. Kundalini energy (non-active chetana) lies dormant and is primarily used for spiritual growth. Kundalini is often referred to as the Coiled Serpent, and is located at the base of the spine. It is the natural creative alignment with the Divine that is switched off early in life, by inter-dimensional intervention and opposing consciousness.

Kundalini Awakening

The soul is a constant stream of consciousness that flows out to Source and back again in an infinity figure of eight. Activating Kundalini is like accessing the super highway to Universal Consciousness in an aligned state, with an eternal flow of creativity.

To activate Kundalini energy the lower (body and mind) Self and Higher Self must unify and work together. When Kundalini is awakened you feel interconnected with the Universe, and your actions are fully supported. Kundalini is experienced as a mixture of flowing energy, pure light, stillness, expansiveness and peace. This connection of energy is the alignment of a balanced soul.

How To Re-Activate Kundalini

Kundalini energy naturally rises whenever there is spiritual growth. Regular spiritual practice will encourage Kundalini to awaken naturally. Activating this dormant energy reconnects you will who you truly are, and you once again become a channel for Divine expression.

Spiritual practices like meditation, yoga, Tai chi, martial arts, crystal healing, Reiki, aromatherapy, sound healing, Shamanic practices and connection through nature are all methods that can be used to re-activate Kundalini energy. Before awakening Kundalini, the physical and energy bodies must be cleansed or purified, to avoid blockages to the flow of the energy. The heart and crown chakras should also be activated prior to Kundalini re-activation. During activation your chakras and spine act as an antenna that draws in the energy and raises it up.

Kundalini Breath Work

The most common way to activate Kundalini is via circular abdominal breathing. To do this: sit with the spine straight, and breathe deeply into the belly. Visualise your breath going all the way down to the pit of your stomach, and then turning around and travelling back up along your spine. Exhale slowly as the energy moves up the spine. Pulling the breath up the spine raises the Kundalini. You can choose to complete a number of cycles of energy, or breathe into each of the chakras in turn.

What Happens When You Activate Kundalini?

You experience a feeling of inner peace, wellbeing and harmony, when you embody this higher nature. Activation can awaken the Kundalini energy, take the energy to a higher level, and regulate the energy that comes into the body.

Kundalini Activation Symptoms

Symptoms of Kundalini activation can range from spasms, muscle twitching, tingly sensations, racing heart beat, increased energy and depleted energy, pressure on the head, confusion, loss of concentration, heightened states of awareness, feelings of bliss, and intensified or diminished sexual desire. Once activated you may also feel an intense love for others and a deep sense of connectedness to all things.
